Cloth. Garment. The thing we wrap ourselves in.
An old word for cloth.
A London address.
Vastra London began with a simple idea: sell one fabric, and know it well. We chose linen — the cloth that cools in summer, softens with every wash and is woven from flax, one of the oldest fibres people have ever spun. The name carries the Sanskrit word for cloth; the address is London. Between the two is a small, careful range of linen, sold by the metre.
Four reasons we sell only linen.
It breathes.
Linen fibres let air move through the cloth, so it stays cool and fresh against the skin — the reason it has been worn in warm weather for centuries.
It gets better with age.
Linen is crisp when new and softens with every wash. A cloth that improves with use is a cloth worth buying once.
It is strong.
Flax is a long, strong fibre. Linen holds up to years of wear on the body, on the bed and on the sofa.
It is honest.
The slubs, the texture, the slight crease — they are not flaws. They are how you know it is real linen.
